THE STORY
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, Little Women: The Broadway Musical follows the four March sisters as they come of age in Civil War-era Massachusetts. At the center of the story is Jo, a fiercely independent aspiring writer determined to build a life beyond society’s expectations. Alongside Meg, Beth, and Amy—and guided by their devoted mother, Marmee—Jo experiences the joys and heartaches of family, friendship, love, ambition, and change. When she is challenged to write more honestly, Jo discovers that her greatest story may be the one unfolding around her. Filled with soaring music, humor, and tenderness, Little Women: The Broadway Musical is a timeless celebration of sisterhood, resilience, imagination, and the courage to follow your own path.

Casting
The production will include the principal roles listed below and an ensemble of up to 12 performers.
Principal roles may be double-cast based on the needs of the production. Double-casting is not guaranteed. We will announce performance assignments and rehearsal expectations with casting.
Vocal ranges indicate the written demands of the score. Voice types are provided as general guidance; performers should audition for any role they feel suited to portray.
Principal Roles
JO MARCH — Mezzo-Soprano/Belt, E3–A5
Passionate, imaginative, and fiercely independent. An aspiring writer determined to create an extraordinary life.
MEG MARCH — Soprano, Bb3–F#5
The eldest March sister. Romantic, gracious, and hopeful, with dreams of love and a family of her own.
BETH MARCH — Soprano, A3–G5
Gentle, musical, and deeply compassionate. The quiet heart of the March family.
AMY MARCH — Soprano, B3–F#5
The youngest sister. Spirited, ambitious, and determined to become a sophisticated young woman.
MARMEE MARCH — Mezzo-Soprano, Eb3–Eb5
The strong and loving mother of the March sisters. Warm, resilient, and quietly courageous.
THEODORE “LAURIE” LAURENCE — Tenor, Bb2–Bb4
The charming and energetic boy next door. He becomes Jo’s closest friend and an honorary member of the March family.
PROFESSOR BHAER — Baritone, G2–F#4
A thoughtful German professor who challenges Jo to find her authentic voice as a writer.
JOHN BROOKE — Baritone, C#3–F#4
Laurie’s reserved and dependable tutor. His relationship with Meg reveals his tenderness and romantic heart.
MR. LAURENCE — Baritone, D3–E4
Laurie’s stern grandfather. His guarded exterior conceals a generous and deeply compassionate nature.
AUNT MARCH — Mezzo-Soprano, E3–F5
The formidable and opinionated March family matriarch. Proper, demanding, and frequently very funny.

Audition Preparation
Please bring/prepare:
A one-minute or shorter musical-theatre song in the style of the production
Clearly marked sheet music in the correct key for you
A 30-second monologue
Clothing and shoes suitable for a movement call
All paperwork must be COMPLETE at the audition (please use the General Registration Form)
An accompanist will be provided. TRACKS / A CAPPELLA AUDITIONS will NOT BE accepted.
Performers may also be asked to:
Read scenes from the script
Learn a short vocal selection
Participate in a movement call
Demonstrate character work or physical storytelling
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking generous, collaborative performers who can combine strong storytelling with confident singing and committed character work. Performers of varied backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to audition.
